not for small dogs August 30, 2010 Bonnie Dolbee (Las Vegas) this product review stated for small dogs under 10 lbs. my dog is 4 lbs and this color would not adjust small enough for her, also it was far too heavy for my tiny yorkie.
cannot verify if it works or not.
It works like an "off" switch August 29, 2010 Rajck (USA) I have a mini schnauzer and a lab mix who think they need to bark and scream incessantly whenever a car comes up the drive. If you want to visit outdoors with the neighbor, forget it, because they bark the ENTIRE time. I ordered one Dogtra YS300 to use for both dogs.
The pros:
1. It says for small to medium dogs, but is very effective with my lab mix also.
2. It has a vibration warning before the correction.
3. It can be set to vibrate only when the correction is learned.
4. The battery is rechargeable in about 2 hours.
The cons:
1. Even on the LOWEST setting, it is a little too strong for my mini schnauzer. She squealed on the correction of "2" which I did not like. (However, I can set it to vibrate only for her which works well.)
2. The strap is very long, but it can be cut to fit, so not a big "con"
3. My dogs do already know that they can bark when the collar is off, however the duration is shorter.
I will have to update my review in the future in order to address durability.
To make a long story short, I like this collar, and will be ordering another one so that both dogs will have one to wear when we go camping, etc.
Finally something that works!! August 9, 2010 klad (Bronx, NY United States) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
We have tried everything with our wonderful dog who never barks.. except when we leave... we started by giving him chew toys, busy bone, ultrasonic bark device, relaxing music for dogs (I kid you not), a dog collar with a citronelle spray, a fermone spray for his bed, and then we got a different electric collar pet safe which ambed up the shocks which worked somewhat but then our dog would howl when we leave.. it does not zap that kind of noise. After using this for a few years and watching our dog howl more and more when we leave... after another set of batteries ran out... we bought this one and oh my god it actually works. I think it' the vibration warning a zap is coming which makes it such a success... as it's a one two punch we needed to calm our dog down. For those of you who think this a bad for you dog... NO.. what is bad for your dog is straining his vocal cords all day and our neighbors nerves. Now he doesn't even attempt to bark or howl when leave what a huge relief!! Worth every penny... I rarely review items only when they exceed my expectations and when I think someone else could benefit from it! PS it has speed charger just takes two hours to charge!
Works! July 7, 2010 Sara Hauer (Astoria, Oregon United States) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
Bought this as a last resort for my dog who barks constantly at people. It's nice because it has a vibrate mode that warns your dog before shocking him. You can also leave it on vibrate, which I usually do and that seems to be enough most of the time. It also has a rechargeable battery which is nice as replacement batteries for no bark collars can get expensive.
Great Collar June 22, 2010 R, Malph 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
Sturdy collar so you don't need to place it on tight like similar petsafe collars. Has sleek design not brick like or heavy. The rechargeable battery saves a lot of money over my petsafe collar which can cost much as ten dollars a battery.
The user must select the shock level, this is the one drawback to this collar if you haven't had much experience with these type of devices. The vibration only mode (no shock) is perfect once your dogs are trained.
If you have several dogs, you can buy one collar and move it from dog to dog as they learn the shock. Then once trained, you can make dummy collars for them because they will learn its safe to bark when they are not wearing the collar.
I use this on 10 to 25 pound dogs although it would be suitable up to about 50 pounds. The limit is simply the size of the collar the device is mounted on, you can easily adapt it to work on any collar.
